One of the Alaska Highway’s most beloved stop-overs, Muncho Lake Provincial Park is an outdoor paradise.

Nestled on the eastern shores of beautiful Muncho Lake, sits two separate provincial campgrounds with direct access to one of the largest bodies of water on the entire highway.

Each campground features fifteen sites large enough to accommodate RV’s. Yet, they are cozy enough to keep tenters satisfied with adequate tree cover and protection from the elements.

On the south side of Muncho Lake, Strawberry Flats Campground features nine lakeshore sites, and six that are located opposite the access road.

Further north, you will find the MacDonald Campground. MacDonald features an additional fifteen campsites. However, all of them are situated with direct access to the shoreline.

Both campgrounds are provincially managed, and are equipped with vault toilets, garbage disposal, park information, a dock, and a boat launch.

All thirty sites in the park feature a picnic table and a fire ring. Firewood is available for purchase by the park operator.

It should be noted that reservations are not an option in Muncho Lake Provincial Park. The provincial campgrounds operate on a ‘first come-first serve’ basis, so it is advised to plan your trip to arrive as early as possible during the peak season(July-August).

Each site is also void of any power, water and sewer hook-ups. Be prepared for ‘dry camping’ if you are travelling with a holiday trailer, camper, or RV.

Muncho Lake Provincial Park is a stunning area along the Alaska Highway. There are plenty of hiking options in the park, excellent wildlife viewing, and the lake is a popular destination for fishing, boating, and water sports.
