Through Prince George

Visitors can travel to this region via Prince George by following Highway 97 northeast towards Chetwynd. From Highway 97, travellers can get to Mackenzie by heading west on Highway 39, to Tumbler Ridge by heading south on Highway 29 or continue on onwards to Dawson Creek before heading north on the Alaska Highway (Highway 97).

Through Alberta

Visitors can travel to this region though Alberta by following Highway 93 west from Edmonton or Grand Prairie and onto Highway 2 north to Dawson Creek. From here, travellers can head south on Highway 52 to Tumbler Ridge, north on Highway 97 to travel the Alaska Highway or southwest on highway 97 connecting to Highway 39 to reach Mackenzie.

By Plane

The major airport gateways to reach Northeast BC are via the Prince George Airport, Northern Rockies Regional Airport just outside of Fort Nelson, Fort Peace Regional Airport in Fort St. John, and the Dawson Creek Airport.

By Car

This region is best explored by car, RV, or touring motorcycle. Expect long stretches of highway and scenic drives between towns and experiences.

Communities

The region consists of the Northeastern BC communities of Mackenzie, Chetwynd, Hudson’s Hope, Tumbler Ridge, Pouce Coupe, Dawon Creek, Taylor, Fort St. John, and the Northern Rockies Regional Municipality, with Fort Nelson to the north.

The region is most easily accessed through Prince George from the South and Dawson Creek to the East.
