Camping: Charlie Lake Provincial Park

Ideally situated near one of the largest centres along the Alaska Highway, Charlie Lake Provincial Park offers visitors a reprieve from the hustle and bustle while they explore energetic Fort St. John.
Situated on the southwestern shore of Charlie Lake, the campground sits in a beautiful large aspen stand teeming with song birds – typical to the North Peace region.
Located 11 kilometres north of Fort St John, visitors will find the entrance to the park at the junction of the Alaska Highway and Highway 29.
With 57 vehicle accessible campsites, the park also features vault toilets, a day use area with playground, onsite domestic garbage disposal, a sani-dump station, and a boat launch to name a few.
The campground is not located directly on the lakeshore, however, visitors can quickly access the water by travelling down to the boat launch, identified by signage as you enter the park.
Each campsite features a fire ring and a picnic table. Cost for one night is $20(CND).
For the adventures type, the park also features a series of nature trails that lead down to the lakeshore. This trail system will take users through a lush and stunning aspen stand, filled with song birds common to the northern boreal forest.
From the boat launch, visitors can enjoy Charlie Lake by way of canoe, kayak, or paddle board. It should be noted that the boat launch is not suitable for launching motorized boats at this time, and there is no lifeguard on duty in the park.
